About Joey's

Joey's story traces its roots to a family legacy of Italian cooking and hospitality.

Original founder Joey DeCuffa learned that legacy from his parents: his father, a dedicated baker, and his mother, who mastered Italian cuisine from her in-laws. Determined to serve classic Italian-American dishes made from scratch with top-quality ingredients, DeCuffa opened Joey's Classic Italian in 1982.

The restaurant quickly became a local favorite, known for its welcoming atmosphere and commitment to excellence, where staff loyalty and a passion for food remained at its heart.

Today, longtime friend Bill Cleary continues to honor that foundation and carry on Joey's enduring reputation for great food and genuine hospitality. The brand-new Joey's Classic Italian Restaurant stands in the footprint of the original location off Carrier Circle in East Syracuse.
